Put Emma on the pallet and you monitor the goods themselves, drop by drop. Mount it inside the reefer or van and you cover the vehicle, every load it carries, for as long as it runs. The problem

Food distribution is measured in drops, not in shipments.

A grocery round can be up to forty back doors before lunch in the city, or just a few drops spread over several hours out in the country, with pallets split, moved and reloaded on the way. The fridge unit reports the box. Nobody reports the goods.

Emma has no interface to get wrong. It wakes with the load, reports the whole way, and gives quality, operations and the retailer the same record at the same time.

One trailer sensor is not one temperature
A single probe in the roof of the box says nothing about the pallet by the door that sat warm through a long rural leg or a dozen city stops.
Third-party fleets are a blind spot
Most grocery volume moves on hauliers you do not own. If the data belongs to their telematics, you are trusting a promise instead of a record.
Mixed fridge brands, mixed data
Carrier on some units, Thermo King and Mitsubishi on others, each with its own portal and export format. Nobody gets one picture of the fleet.
Manual loggers get skipped
Up to forty drops before lunch in the city, or a handful of drops spread over several hours out in the country. Either way a logger that has to be started, stopped and downloaded leaves gaps, and those gaps are procedural, not technical.

Emma rides with the goods on the pallet, in the roll cage or in the crate, so the temperature you record is the temperature of the product, not the air near the ceiling.

Or inside the van
Peel and place it on the inside wall of any reefer, van or box body. Carrier, Thermo King, Mitsubishi, Zanotti or unbranded, it makes no difference, because Emma never wires into the fridge unit.
